One of the most important private defense tech companies in the world has raised billions of dollars in new funding.
What’s happening:
- Defense tech company Anduril has $2.5B USD raised in a new Series G financing round
- The new funding round was led by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund
Why it matters:
- This is the largest round of funding Anduril has ever raised and also represents the largest amount of capital that Founders Fund has ever put into a company in one single financing round
Going deeper:
- Anduril has been rapidly rolling out new partnerships focused on developing new breakthrough technology and hardware for the American military, including just recently forming a notable collaboration with Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) to build new types of virtual reality and augmented reality technology
- Anduril has also been pouring capital into scaling up their domestic production facilities, previously committing more than a billion dollars to constructing a new drone factory in Ohio
The intrigue:
- Defense tech also continued to be a major theme out of Washington, D.C. lately, including President Donald Trump just recently signing a new executive order focused on accelerating drone innovation and reducing America’s dependence on purchasing drone hardware from foreign countries
