- CleanSpark (NASDAQ: CLSK) has acquired the rights to 271 acres of land in Austin County, Texas to develop a data centre for artificial intelligence workloads and high performance computing
By the numbers:
- CleanSpark also struck long term power supply agreements for 285 megawatts as part of the new land purchase
- CleanSpark now has a total of 1.3 gigawatts of power, land and data centres under contract in the United States
Why it matters:
- This is the first time that CleanSpark has ever purchased land to develop a data centre that is purpose built for high performance computing instead of Bitcoin mining

- CleanSpark purchased the new land in Texas through a mixture of cash and equity and will be responsible for more cash payments following the completion of specific construction milestones
- The land acquired by CleanSpark is located near existing natural gas pipelines and CleanSpark has publicly stated they will consider leveraging natural gas to power the new data centre
