A new type of affordable electric pick up truck is coming to the United States of America. And it’s being funded by Jeff Bezos.

  • Slate Auto has emerged from stealth mode and announced a $111M USD Series A financing round
  • The funding round was led by Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos and also included participation from the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers Mark Walter

Why it matters:

  • Slate Auto has also unveiled their flagship electric vehicle truck known as the Slate Truck which will be priced under $30,000 USD

  • Multiple other notable venture capital investors participated in Slate Auto’s Series A financing round including Hollywood financier Thomas Tull and former Google leader Eric Schmidt
  • Slate Auto is founded by talent who previously worked at Amazon and Re:Build Manufacturing and has also attracted engineers who previously were a part of designing electric vehicles at Ford and Rivian
