JPMorganChase is preparing to make their biggest bet ever on American companies. But, why?
What’s happening:
- JPMorgan Chase has launched the Security and Resiliency Initiative which has committed to putting $1.5T USD into innovative companies in the United States focused on critical minerals, national security and disruptive technology
Why it matters:
- This is the single largest funding commitment JPMorgan Chase has ever made into investing into American companies
Going deeper:
- JPMorgan Chase has publicly stated they will pursue investments into American companies making breakthroughs in critical minerals, nuclear energy, defense, aerospace, battery storage, artificial intelligence and even quantum computing
- JPMorgan Chase will facilitate direct investments of up to $10B USD into individual companies and will back both publicly traded companies as well as startups
The intrigue:
- The new Security and Resiliency Initiative comes just after China made major geopolitical waves when they ramped up restrictions around rare earth element exports to the United States
