There’s a new vision for the future for manufacturing.

And it might be sitting directly at the intersection of artificial intelligence and robotics.

What’s happening:

  • Los Angeles based startup Machina Labs has raised $32M in a new round co led by the venture arm of Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and Innovation Endeavors
  • Machine Labs is building next generation robotics focused on manufacturing for areas of hardware such as aerospace, electric vehicles, defense technology and more

The big idea:

  • By leveraging artificial intelligence and robotics technology Machina hopes to be able to build a new era of manufacturing facilities capable of accelerating production timelines from months into days

Why it matters:

Going deeper:

  • Machina Labs speciality is metals manufacturing and being able to use robotics to form any type of standard sheet metal into highly specific designs

The intrigue:

  • Machina Labs already has a partnership with Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) for manufacturing materials for defense technology
