Humanoid robots are coming to the border between China and Vietnam. But, why?
What’s happening:

Why it matters:

Going deeper:
- The Walker S2 humanoid robots are being purchased by the Fangchenggang Humanoid Robot Data Collection and Testing Centre who will deploy the robots for patrolling the border, guiding travellers and assisting with vehicle direction as well as cargo inspections
- UBTECH Robotics previously made major waves when they successfully completed the largest ever shipment of humanoid robots for the purpose of being deployed in factories and manufacturing facilities
The intrigue:
- Robotics companies and startups in China have been continuing to be on the leading edge of humanoid robots, with Midea Group unveiling a six armed humanoid robot and Spirit AI deploying their Xiaomo robots at battery giant CATL’s production facility to test battery packs for electric vehicles
