- WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD) has been selected to be the exclusive technology partner for a new pilot project in Switzerland focused on autonomous driving
Why it matters:
- WeRide was the first company in American history fully focused on autonomous driving to ever IPO on a major stock exchange and has become one of the leading players in self driving technology

- The new pilot project will be overseen by the Swiss Transit Lab and will allow citizens to book autonomous vehicles directly through a mobile app
- This is not the first time WeRide has expanded into Europe, previously launching similar pilot projects in both Zurich and Paris

- The initial pilot project will only allow for two of WeRide’s vehicles to be operational and will be limited to only being available within the Furttal Region of Switzerland
