Ioneer
About Ioneer
Ioneer Ltd. is an Australian-listed mineral resources company focused on the Rhyolite Ridge Lithium-Boron Project in Esmeralda County, Nevada. The project represents one of only two known lithium-boron deposits in North America and holds the distinction of being among the few domestic sources capable of producing both lithium carbonate and boric acid from a single operation.
Rhyolite Ridge uses a sulfuric acid leach process designed to extract lithium and boron from sedimentary clay deposits. The project's dual-commodity structure provides a differentiated economic profile compared to single-mineral lithium operations. Ioneer maintains an offtake agreement with a major automaker for lithium carbonate supply and has secured a loan commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy's Loan Programs Office to support project development.
The company operates through its U.S. subsidiary and employs conventional open-pit mining methods adapted to the deposit's unique mineralogy. Boron produced at Rhyolite Ridge serves applications in glass manufacturing, agriculture and industrial processes, while lithium carbonate targets the battery supply chain for electric vehicles and energy storage systems. Ioneer trades on the ASX under the ticker INR and on the OTCQX market under IONR.
Why Ioneer Matters
Ioneer operates within the critical minerals sector, where domestic lithium and boron production plays a central role in reducing reliance on foreign supply chains. U.S. policy frameworks increasingly prioritize onshore mineral processing to support battery manufacturing and broader electrification goals. Rhyolite Ridge's co-production model positions the project as a supplier across multiple industrial verticals.
